Meet Deja

For nearly a decade, Deja has worked in nonprofit leadership, bringing together community members, partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to create meaningful change. Her career has been built on listening to people, building relationships, and ensuring that those most impacted by decisions have a seat at the table.

Public education has always been a central part of Deja’s life. She is the daughter of an educator, the daughter of a JCPS graduate, and the parent of a JCPS student. She understands firsthand the important role public schools play in creating opportunities for children, strengthening families, and building a thriving community.

Throughout her career, Deja has partnered with schools, educators, businesses, and community organizations to support students and families. She has also served in leadership roles on nonprofit boards, where she has gained experience in governance, budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic planning.

As a school board member, Deja will focus on transparency, accountability, and student success. She believes families, educators, and community members should be active partners in shaping the future of JCPS. She is committed to ensuring that district decisions are made openly, responsibly, and with students at the center.

Deja is running because she wants to help make JCPS the very best it can be, not only for her child, but for every child in Jefferson County. She believes strong schools create strong communities, and she is ready to bring thoughtful leadership, community engagement, and a commitment to service to the JCPS Board of Education.
